CBAC Competency Assessment preparation course

Self-paced preparation for the CBAC Competency Assessment. Seventeen chapters, five practice questions after every chapter, and a timed 40-question mock assessment with answers and explanations.

What will set you apart

By completing this course you will gain the following competencies

  • You already do the work of a business accountant in commerce. The CBAC Competency Assessment asks you to show it, across eight areas, in one timed sitting. This course helps you walk in prepared.
  • It covers financial accounting and reporting, bookkeeping and internal controls, VAT and income tax, payroll, management accounting, financial management, business law and governance, and professional ethics. Two further chapters cover technology and data, and working with people. They are not assessed, but they reflect what employers expect from a CBAC every day.
  • Each chapter uses South African examples and the 2026/27 SARS figures. It ends with five Test your knowledge questions and model answers. Chapter 17 brings everything together with chapter summaries, a key figures table and a formula sheet. It finishes with a 40-question mock assessment in the same style as the real one.
  • The course is optional, and we recommend it. Work at your own pace and go straight to the areas where you feel least sure.
