3. Paying R1 000 a month

3.1 What the fee covers

  1. Access to each session as it is released to you under clause 3.3.
  2. The handout, slide deck and recorded session for each released session.
  3. The knowledge check attaching to each released session.
  4. The summative integrated case study, and written feedback on it.
  5. The Passport and the CIBA completion certificate on successful completion.
  6. Twelve months of experience credit toward a CIBA designation, on completion.

3.2 What the fee does not cover

  1. CIBA membership of any kind.
  2. The Chartered Financial Administrator (CFAdmin) designation fee, which is payable separately if you apply for the designation.
  3. Any third-party software licence you may wish to obtain in your own name.
  4. Data, devices, travel, or assessment re-write fees.

3.3 How the sessions are released

On this option the programme is released progressively rather than all at once. A month’s sessions become available on the working day after that month’s payment is received. Sessions already released stay available, subject to clause 3.5.

3.4 How instalments are collected

  1. The first instalment is payable on enrolment. Each instalment after that is collected automatically on the same calendar day of each month.
  2. Collection is by debit order or recurring card mandate.
  3. You must keep the mandate valid, and tell CIBA of any change of card or bank account at least five business days before the next collection date.
  4. Twelve instalments are payable in total. Collection stops automatically after the twelfth successful instalment.

3.5 If a payment does not go through

  1. CIBA notifies you by email on the day the collection fails.
  2. A grace period of seven calendar days runs from that notice. During it your existing access continues and no new session is released.
  3. If payment has not been received by the end of the grace period, access to programme content is suspended. Your account, your progress and your completed assessments are retained and are not deleted.
  4. No further session is released while access is suspended.
  5. Access is restored, and any session withheld during suspension is released, on the working day after the arrear instalment is received.
  6. If an account stays suspended for sixty consecutive days, CIBA may cancel the enrolment on written notice.
Suspension is not cancellation. You resume where you left off rather than re-enrolling, so you never pay more than R12 000 in total for the programme.

3.6 Your access period

Access to released content runs for twelve months from enrolment. Once all twelve instalments are paid, access to the full programme continues until you complete the case study.

4. Paying R12 000 once off

4.1 What the fee covers

  1. Immediate access to all programme content available at the date you enrol.
  2. Access to further content as it is developed and released, at no extra charge, for the duration of your access period.
  3. The summative integrated case study, and written feedback on it.
  4. The Passport and the CIBA completion certificate on successful completion.
  5. Twelve months of experience credit toward a CIBA designation, on completion.
  6. The first year of Chartered Financial Administrator (CFAdmin) designation membership, subject to clause 4.2.
U²Pro is still being extended. Some sessions are released as they are completed. Where content described in the programme outline is not delivered within your access period, contact CIBA and it will be remedied under clause 12.

4.2 The included CFAdmin year

Your first year of CFAdmin designation membership is included in this option. Admission to the designation remains subject to CIBA’s published admission requirements. If you do not yet meet those requirements when you enrol, the included year begins when you are admitted rather than when you enrol.

4.3 Refunds

Where the agreement results from direct marketing, you may cancel within five business days as provided in section 16 of the Consumer Protection Act. After that, cancellation is dealt with under clause 8.

5. What U²Pro is, and what it is not

U²Pro is a simulated work programme. It is not employment, not articles, not an internship and not work experience. All work is done on simulated client files containing synthetic data. Nothing you prepare during the programme is submitted to SARS, to CIPC, or to any bank or third party.

CIBA does not guarantee employment, placement or any particular outcome. What the programme gives you is practice and documented evidence of what you can do.

6. Assessment and completion

  1. A knowledge check of twenty questions follows each session. The minimum pass mark is 60% and one resubmission is permitted.
  2. The summative integrated case study covers all ten blocks. The minimum pass mark is 65%.
  3. Written feedback on the case study is provided within four weeks of submission.
  4. CIBA may require the summative assessment to be completed in a supervised setting with identity verification, at a partner assessment centre or under proctoring. Where it does, you will be told before you reach that stage.

7. The Work Readiness Passport

On successful completion CIBA issues a Work Readiness Passport recording the competencies you have demonstrated. The Passport states on its face that those competencies were demonstrated through a simulated work programme.

You may attach it to a CV and present it to employers. You may not represent it as evidence of employment or of work experience.

Designation credit

Completion of U²Pro is recognised by CIBA as twelve months of experience credit toward a CIBA designation. This is a CIBA recognition rule applying to CIBA designations only. It is not employment, it is not work experience for any other purpose, and it is not recognised by any other body.

8. Cancellation

You may cancel on twenty business days’ written notice, as provided in section 14 of the Consumer Protection Act. CIBA may impose a reasonable cancellation charge, calculated having regard to the factors in regulation 5(3) of the regulations made under that Act. Content already released stays accessible until the cancellation takes effect.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act.

9. Support, access and technical requirements

  1. You are responsible for your own device and internet access.
  2. Support is provided by email during business hours.
  3. Where the programme requires access to accounting software, CIBA will tell you what is needed and how to obtain it.

10. Your personal information

CIBA processes your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act and CIBA’s privacy notice, for enrolment, delivery of the programme, assessment, certification and compliance with law.

Consent to the use of your name, image, likeness or story in CIBA marketing is separate, voluntary, and may be withdrawn at any time. It is not a condition of enrolment and refusing it does not affect your access to the programme.

11. Intellectual property

All programme content remains the property of CIBA. You are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own learning during your access period. Recording, copying, sharing, resale and republication are not permitted.

12. Changes to the programme

CIBA may improve and update the programme. Where a change is materially adverse to a learner already enrolled, CIBA will offer that learner a reasonable alternative or the right to withdraw without liability for the part of the programme not delivered.

13. Study now, pay later

Deferred payment is a separate route with its own terms. It is granted by application, places are limited, and nobody has a right to be granted it. It is not a bursary: the R12 000 remains payable.

  1. You sign the U²Pro Deferred Payment Agreement and a parent or guardian signs as surety and co-principal debtor.
  2. Payment is deferred free of interest and free of fees.
  3. Repayment begins on the earlier of the month you first earn R5 000 or more, and the first anniversary of the date you complete the programme.
  4. The amount is repaid in equal monthly instalments over a period not exceeding twelve months.
  5. You must be 18 or older. CIBA does not contract with minors.

The U²Pro Study Now, Pay Later Programme Terms and Conditions and the Deferred Payment Agreement govern that route in full, and prevail over this summary. Read the conditions and apply.

14. General

  1. These terms, together with the documents referred to in them, are the whole agreement between you and CIBA about your enrolment.
  2. No variation or waiver has any effect unless it is in writing.
  3. If any provision is unenforceable, it is severed and the rest continues in force.
  4. These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
  5. If you have a complaint, raise it in writing with CIBA. CIBA will respond in writing within twenty business days.
